The Cost of Discipleship

Everyone quotes it.  But have you read it?  With all of the emphasis the church places on discipleship these days, Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s landmark work The Cost of Discipleship is more than worth your time.  Written by a German theologian who later went on to die for his uncompromising convictions under the Nazi regime, this book systematically goes through the teachings of Jesus, applying them to modern life (as of the 1940’s, anyway), dealing carefully with the strengths and weaknesses of the heritage of the Reformation.  This book is accessible and readable, and well worth the time of any Christian seeking to live as a true disciple of Jesus’s teachings.  Recommended by Pastor Jillian Lutes.
